Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV) Materials

Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV) is a high-performance elastomer that combines the flexibility and resilience of rubber with the processing advantages of thermoplastics. Nexeo Plastics supplies TPV materials engineered for durability, elasticity, and long-term performance across automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.

As a trusted distributor, Nexeo Plastics provides access to TPV resin solutions from leading manufacturers, supported by technical expertise and reliable global supply.

What is TPV?

Thermoplastic Vulcanizates, or TPVs, are part of the thermoplastic elastomer family of polymers, primarily composed of polypropylene and EPDM rubber. The EPDM rubber within the polypropylene matrix is vulcanized, which provides good compression set resistance. TPVs offer a combination of elastomeric properties, like compression and tension set, coupled with aging performance and chemical resistance.

Characteristics and Properties of TPV Materials

TPV resins are selected for applications that require a balance of flexibility, durability, and environmental resistance. Common performance characteristics include:

  • Dimensionally stable
  • Resistance to compression set
  • Low-temperature flexibility
  • Good UV and ozone stability
  • Recyclable

Applications for TPV

Thermoplastic Vulcanizate is used across various industries where flexible, resilient components are required.

Automotive

  • Seals and gaskets
  • Air management and ducting components
  • Under-the-hood parts requiring heat and chemical resistance

Industrial

  • Hoses and tubing
  • Flexible connectors and bellows
  • Sealing elements and vibration-damping components
