Polyphthalamide, or PPA is a high-performance resin and member of the nylon family with exceptional thermal, mechanical, and physical properties. It is hygroscopic, opaque, semicrystalline and can be used in injection molding. Most PPA grades are filled (glass and/or mineral) to enhance stiffness for high-temperature applications where Nylon 66 would not perform. PPA is used in applications that would otherwise likely be made with a metal or higher-priced thermoplastic. It is commonly used in appliance, mobility/automotive, electronics and electrics, and industrial applications that require high heat resistance, good chemical resistance, and low moisture sensitivity.
