Product Descriptions

ACRYLITE* Acrylic Polymers

ACRYLITE® acrylic polymers are thermoplastics based on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). They are designed and manufactured to meet the requirements of customers and can be used in a variety of applications requiring vastly different material properties. These polymers are characterized by a number of chemical, physical and technical properties which are indispensable for manufacturing high-quality components by injection molding, injection blow molding and extrusion processes.

ACRYLITE® crystal-clear molding compound grades are so transparent that products manufactured from them provide the highest possible light transmission of 92 percent, i.e. show only the physical reflection loss of 4 percent at each surface. Their unique clarity makes it possible to obtain pure colors with precision. This ensures the production of white and other colors with excellent lighting properties, such as superior diffusion at relatively low light loss.

As confirmed by tests in all of the world's climates, ACRYLITE® acrylic polymers show unsurpassed resistance to weathering and aging. They do not turn yellow or wear away, show no deterioration of their properties and are not subject to decay.

Owing to their chemical composition, ACRYLITE® acrylic polymers are uniquely suitable for chemical and physical recycling. In addition to their pleasant feel and sound, products made from ACRYLITE® (PMMA) possess the greatest surface hardness and the best abrasion resistance of all thermoplastics, and can keep their high gloss even after prolonged use. ACRYLITE* Resist Impact Acrylic Polymers

ACRYLITE® Resist impact acrylic polymers are specially formulated to offer enhanced impact resistance, toughness and chemical resistance, without sacrificing clarity. These compounds combine maximum impact performance with the clarity expected from a standard PMMA material. These polymers can resist the adverse effects of outdoor weathering, retaining both physical properties and appearance after long periods of outdoor exposure.

ACRYLITE® Resist polymers are available in a number of grades that vary according to comonomer content, molecular weight, lubricant content and rubber modified content. Depending on the application, there is an ACRYLITE® Resist polymer grade that provides the optimum balance of impact resistance and melt flow. All grades have excellent weatherability, and are also available in Hi-Gloss acrylic (formerly known as Non-Transparent Acrylic -NTA) grades with extremely deep color, high gloss surface. ACRYLITE* Satinice Light-Diffusing Acrylic Polymers

Where high lighting efficiency as well as excellent hiding power is desired, ACRYLITE® Satinice df polymers provide added value in performance and reduced lighting costs by allowing higher lighting capacity at the same energy level, or equivalent lighting capacity as traditional pigmented diffusers at lower energy levels.

These compounds are used in:

  • Office lighting diffusion panels or covers
  • Lighting globes for outdoor lighting applications
  • Decorative and HID (high intensity discharge) lighting systems

ACRYLITE® Satinice df compounds offer increased lighting efficiency with a 20-40 percent increase in light transmittance versus pigmented products.

They are offered:

  • With different concentration levels
  • In different grades
  • Customized to meet specific end-user requirements (including ultraviolet absorbers and/or internal lubricants; in transparent colors)

CYROLITE® Acrylic Polymers

CYROLITE® compounds are the world's most advanced medical acrylics. All grades meet the requirements of: USP Class VI, Tripartite, ISO 10993-1 and FDA. They are gamma and EtO stable, lipid resistant and provide good impact, clarity and light transmission.

CYROLITE® MD offer exceptional ultra-violet light transmittance (UVT) and optical clarity while providing maximum flow characteristics and high dimensional stability. Meeting the stringent performance and regulatory compliance requirements of medical designs, CYROLITE® MD polymers are well suited for diagnostic applications, including cuvettes, test packs, rotors, and crystallography trays. XT* polymer Acrylic-Based Multipolymer Compounds

XT® polymer compounds toughness characteristics are evident in its combination of Izod impact and elongation at break characteristics. Both these properties remain stable after EtO exposure and over time. PETG's toughness characteristics are related to it's elongation at break property. After EtO sterilization, the elongation property of PETG is immediately reduced by half after which it continues to deteriorate as it ages until it becomes fairly brittle.

XT® polymer compounds are designed to withstand the toughest conditions in medical and food packaging. They are contact compatible for a range of pharmaceutical treatment drugs and carriers having passed requirements of the United Sates Pharmacopieia (USP) 26, National Formulary 21, 2003 <661> “Physiochemical Tests – Plastics.” FDA for food contact for all uses conditions up to and including hot filled or pasteurized above 150 degree F (e.g. Condition 21 CFR 176.170) for all food types except those containing more than 8 percent alcohol.
