Thermoplastic Stewards of the Environment

Nexeo Plastics is committed to finding ways to achieve sustainability across our business. We are in a unique position to offer an ever-growing portfolio of sustainable thermoplastics to our customers. We are continuously working with our suppliers to promote the latest “green” thermoplastic alternatives based on bio, post-consumer/post-industrial and recycled/reclaimed content.

Our portfolio of “green” thermoplastics, include:

  • Bio-based resins, including certified compostable polymer blends and polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and other materials that are sourced from sugarcane, grapeseed and other plant-based sources.
  • Recycled-content resins, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polycarbonate (PC), nylon (PA 6 and PA 66) and other materials sourced from recycled plastics, commercial fishing nets and bailing twine.
  • Resins based on renewable content sourced from wood-based materials.

More than just offering alternative materials, we can also assist with recycling/reclaiming strategies based on material selection, so our customers can find a second life for their scrap materials. This helps ensure that products that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill are sourced for future applications.

Additionally, we offer materials that meet:

  • ASTM D6400 – 04 Standard Specification for Compostable Plastics
  • ASTM D6866 for Bio-based Content Testing

By offering these “green” alternatives in materials and operations, we are working to make meaningful progress to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as helping to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental plastic waste; helping to mitigate climate change; and contributing to a thriving society for our employees, the communities where we operate and the people who depend on our products.
