As the Manager of Nexeo Plastics Tech Connect Center, Bob oversees the Technical Representatives who assist customers with their selection of plastic materials and processing methods.  With 45 years in the plastics industry, and 23 years in distribution, Bob has extensive experience in injection molding, blown and cast film, spinning, compounding, blow molding and extrusion.  Bob has a Master of Science degree in Polymer Science, and he is also a designated RJG Master Molder.

Cesar Alcantar | Senior Application Development Engineer

Cesar currently serves as Senior Application Development Engineer. Cesar has 30 years of experience in the plastics industry. During this time, he has held technical, sales, marketing, and management roles. Prior to joining Nexeo Plastics, Cesar was employed at General Motors, GE Plastics, and Celanese Engineered Materials where he served in several roles supporting their global customer base in most major markets and applications. Here he was responsible for developing new applications for manufactured resins, with a focus on injection molding thermoplastics in the global marketplace. Cesar has extensive knowledge in 6 Sigma processes, QS trained, DFMA, Lean manufacturing, Project Management and Change management, and acceleration and 3D printing processes. His role is to assist customers with material selection, processing challenges, part design, and providing general feedback on new product development. Cesar has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso and many years of industry training in injection molding, extrusion, and 3D printing.

Jose is a Senior Technical Service and Development Manager with a main focus in Extrusion, Blow Molding, Roto Molding, and Film. Jose is also involved in sustainability and circular economies, as well as developing nylon films applications. He started in Dow Chemical in 1974, ARCO Chemical, and ALM Group, which amounts to over 50 years of experience in the plastics industry. Jose has developed many formulations and additive packages being presently used in the agricultural, sustainability, and the high barrier film and blow molding industries.

Andrea Charif, Ph.D. | Application Development Engineer

Andrea is a polymer scientist with several years of experience in the thermoplastics sector. She joined Nexeo after working for 7 years as an ADE at 3M Company in the Advanced Material Division. She holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from The University of Akron and obtained her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in her hometown of Bogota, Colombia.

Her areas of expertise include material structure-property relationship, formulation of composite materials, polymer processing, and polymer characterization. Andrea enjoys communicating technical product information, building professional relationships, and engaging with customers to help them achieve their goals.

Andrea is part of the Corporate Accounts Team and is responsible for providing support to our Corporate Account Managers and customers. Her role involves material selection, material specification, characterization, processing, and more.

Jim is a Senior Technical Engineer with over 39 years in the plastics industry. Jim has extensive knowledge in semi-crystalline polymers, polyamides, polyesters, PPA, PPS, TPEs, and FR Compounds for electronics applications. He's well-versed in a variety of processes, including extrusion, injection molding, cast film, and compound formulation. Jim has worked in a wide array of markets including electronics, electrical, automotive, agriculture, industrial, and medical.

Travis Densmore | Application Development Engineer

As the Application Development Engineer for the Southeast Region, Travis is an extension of the sales team supporting their customers and the OEMs on the front end of new projects and programs, whether it be material selection, design reviews of application & tooling, or discussing new ideas and market trends.  Travis comes with 10 years in the plastics industry with previous experience in injection molding (primarily) and extrusion/thermoforming as a project engineer where he would lead tool design reviews, kick off new tooling builds, develop & optimize processes and support the project all the way through production.  Travis has a Bachelor’s of Science in Plastics Engineering Technology from Penn State Behrend.

Pierre Dumas | Technical Service and Development Manager – Canada

Pierre has been passionate about plastics since the age of five. He has been working in the industry since 1983 and has been with Nexeo Plastics since 1993. He is our resident polypropylene and polyethylene subject matter expert, and is responsible for technical support for Canadian customers from coast to coast to coast, whether they use rotational moulding, injection moulding, blow moulding or extrusion. He wrote the Nexeo Plastics Thermoplastics Processing Guide. He is highly knowledgeable when it comes to drying and moisture measurement of engineering plastics. When not standing by a moulding machine or making joint calls with Nexeo Canadian sales representatives, he can be found shifting the gears of one of his vintage cars, or skiing the double diamonds.

Stephanie has a Master’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry and currently has over seven years of experience in the plastics field.  After grad school, she began working at a plastic distributor as a lab technician. She was responsible for laboratory testing for all unknown samples as well as analyzing customer parts and pellets that were submitted for analysis. Stephanie has experience in injection molding as well as setting up and running a blown film line. She has been part of the Tech Connect team since starting at Nexeo Plastics and working with the team to provide regulatory support for our customers.

As a Technical Service Engineer, Danial assists customers with their sample reviews, process optimizations, troubleshooting, and quality concern situations. After being in the industry for 4 years, all of which in distribution, Danial has experience in all 5 major thermoplastic processing methods along with a history of part and tool design. Danial comes to us with a Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics Engineering Technology, and he is also a designated RJG Master Molder.

Bill is a Senior Application Development Engineer with Nexeo Plastics. His primary focus is in the Healthcare market, thermal analysis, and polymer science. Bill has been with Nexeo Plastics for 39 years and has 45 years of Plastics experience.

Working with the Corporate Account team he is responsible for the development of new applications at OEMs and is on the board of Nexeo Plastics’s risk assessment team, and manages all analytical testing for the company. Bill has extensive knowledge of material compliance and substance management.

Before becoming an Application Development Engineer for the Corporate Accounts team, Bill served as the Manager of Technical Service at Nexeo Plastics. During his tenure, he played a key role in developing the Tech Connect Center and has also held various other positions within the company.

Nate brings over 25 years of plastic engineering, design, and manufacturing experience to his role as Application Development Engineer with Nexeo Plastics. He is part of the Nexeo Plastics Technical Resource team and is responsible for assisting with raw material specification and supporting customers on part/tool design, training, and continuous improvement in their manufacturing processes.

Nate has held several positions in his career including Engineering and Operations Management and Global Sourcing. His education includes AAS in Tool and Die Design and a BS in Plastics Engineering from Ferris State University in 1996.

Brian is a Senior Technical Representative with Nexeo Plastics since 2021, also having been a Technical Service Representative with General Polymers – Ashland between 1999-2007. He is currently a member of our Tech Connect Center.

With almost 40 years in the Plastics Industry, and 24 of those years in Distribution Technical support roles, he has had a considerable positive interface with Molders and OEMs.

Prior to this, his background in Injection Molding manufacturing gives him a plastic converters mindset on best practices to achieve productivity and growth, by deploying this consultative Technical approach to impact our customer's bottom lines.

Various duties during his time in manufacturing as a new tooling and sample processing engineer utilizing Scientific Injection Molding, aided skillset developments for Brian in mold design, tool optimization, and materials knowledge.

Brian is experienced with all types of Engineering and Commodity thermoplastics, and Material and Tooling design requirements. In addition, he has experience in specialized processing and molding strategies for High Cavitation, Thin Wall molding, Multi-material – 2K molding, insert and reel-to-reel molding, and Medical and Labware molding.

Wayne Staupe serves as Application Development Engineer, Central Region, for Nexeo Plastics. Mr. Staupe has over 25 years in the plastics industry, starting his career at Evco Plastics. During his time he assumed many different roles, the most recent, Technology/Innovation Center Manager, where he worked with internal and OEM engineers and designers to develop and design products that exceed OEMs needs. Here, he was able to apply his extensive scientific molding, simulation training, and tooling background to assist OEMs and molders solve problems proactively as well as reactively.

Wayne joined the Nexeo Plastics family in 2018 as a technical service representative and in his current role as Application Development Engineer, works with OEM customers to solve problems with resin selection and help them choose the optimal material for their business needs.

Serving as the Application Development Engineer for the Northeast Region, Tim plays a vital role as an extension of the sales team. He provides valuable support to customers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) during the initial stages of new projects and programs. Tim's responsibilities include material selection, conducting design reviews for applications & tooling, and engaging in discussions about emerging ideas, market trends, and providing technical training both virtually and at customer locations. With six years in the plastics industry, Tim's expertise predominantly lies in injection molding. Before joining Nexeo Plastics, he worked at Nova Biomedical and Granite State Plastics, where he held various positions related to manufacturing, new tooling, and process optimization. Tim actively contributed to projects from their conceptualization through production, gaining extensive knowledge in Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma Processes, Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFMA), and Project Management. Tim holds a Master's of Science and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Plastics Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Pat began in career while still in high school. In a few months’ time, he moved from material handler to shift supervisor.  Through the years Pat has been involved in every aspect of an injection molding plant including Quality Control, Process Engineer, Machine and Facility maintenance, and Plant Manager.

As a new tooling and sampling engineer he has been involved with hundreds of different materials and has assisted in tool design and troubleshooting. He has been able to use this experience as a Nexeo Plastics Sr. Tech Service Rep since 2012.

Dean Wieting is a Business/Application Development Engineer for Nexeo Plastics primarily focusing on high temperature/performance resins, connecting with OEMs and customers during their product design cycle. Dean has more than two decades of manufacturing experience with injection molded and extruded resins including tribology, material development, product design, predictive analysis, testing/validation, project management, VA/VE, and continuous improvement. His experience has resulted in 7 patents and 35 innovative material developments. Prior to joining Nexeo Plastics, Dean worked at Johnson Controls and Rexnord Industries, where he held a variety of roles, including Project Engineer, Global Materials Engineer, Design Engineering Manager, and Global Material Engineering Product Manager. Dean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Dynamics and Material Science, as well as Minors in Mathematics and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
